This Privacy Policy explains how skatecomp.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you use skatecomp.com and any related websites, applications, features and services (together, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information collected automatically. The Services use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use them. Google Analytics may collect information such as pages or screens visited, time spent, approximate location (country or city), browser and device type, operating system, referring website, and similar usage data. This is collected via cookies and similar technologies. Our hosting and platform providers may also automatically log technical information such as IP addresses and browser or device details for security and operation of the Services.
Information you provide. If you submit any information or content through the Services, we store what you submit, along with the date of submission. If new features are added, we may collect additional information you choose to provide, and this policy will be updated accordingly.
Local storage. Some features may store data (such as settings) in your browser’s cookies, local storage or your device’s storage. This data stays on your device unless it is submitted through the Services.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we ask that you not submit any.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to: operate and maintain the Services; display content and any information you choose to submit; understand usage and improve the Services; detect and prevent abuse, spam or security issues; and comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal Basis (UK/EU Visitors)
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we process information based on: your consent (for analytics cookies, where required); our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the Services; and, where applicable, compliance with legal obligations.
4. Cookies and Analytics
Google Analytics uses cookies to collect usage data. Google’s use of this data is governed by its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), by rejecting analytics cookies where a consent option is shown, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. The Services will still work if you block cookies, though some features may not.
5. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Information may be shared only: with service providers that help run the Services (such as Google Analytics, hosting and platform providers); when required by law, subpoena or legal process; to protect our rights, the Services, or the safety of others; or in connection with a transfer of the Services to another owner. Content you submit may be publicly visible.
6. Data Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above. Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings configured for the Services and Google’s policies. Submitted content may be kept indefinitely or deleted at any time at our discretion.
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no website, application, transmission or storage system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the security of any information, and you provide information at your own risk.
8. Your Choices
The Services do not currently offer user accounts or a contact channel. You control what information the Services receive: you can opt out of Google Analytics as described in Section 4, block cookies in your browser, clear your browser’s cookies and local storage at any time, and choose not to submit any information or content. Submitted content may be removed at any time at our discretion. UK and EU residents have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
9. International Visitors
The Services are operated from the United States. If you access them from elsewhere, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your own.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Children under 13 should not submit names, images, videos or other personal information through the Services.
11. Third-Party Links
The Services may link to or embed other websites, content, products or services. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; please review their policies.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes take effect when posted, and the “Last updated” date will reflect them. Continued use of the Services means you accept the updated policy.
